Eileen Green, 91, of Fergus Falls, was called from this life on Monday, October 19, 2015, at the Broen Home.
Eileen Clarice was born on February 19, 1924, in Minneapolis the daughter of Edward Melvin and Margaret Constance (Johnson) Ledding. She attended country school District #247 and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1943.
Following graduation, she moved to Chicago to work for the Treasury Department. She met Raymond Green in Chicago and they were married October 15, 1949 at Aurdal Lutheran Church. They continued to live in Chicago, until they purchased their dairy farm in Aurdal Township in 1952. Ray and Eileen received the Valley Farm and Homemaker Award in 1977. They actively farmed until 1980 and in 1987, they retired and moved to their rural Fergus Falls home.
Her interests include keeping up on world affairs, gardening, staying in touch with the many friends she met working and attending church in Chicago, traveling and being active in Aurdal Lutheran Church, where she was a lifetime member. She served as president and vice president of the Aurdal women’s group and taught Sunday school. She was an adult 4-H leader in the Aurdal Busy Bees 4-H Club, a member of Farmers Union, where she participated in several Washington, D.C. fly-ins and also a member of the National Farmers Organization, Eagles Club, and Aurdal Homemaker’s Club.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Raymond on May 17, 1989; her daughter, Kristi on October 2, 2007; infant daughter, Diane in 1958; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Her family includes three sons, Randy of Fergus Falls, Greg (Juneal) of Rothsay, Doug (Karla) of Fergus Falls; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron)Sletten, Desta (Ben) Sillerud, Gary Green, Steven (Lindsey) Green, Wesley (Samantha) Green, Jared Green and Amber Danielson (Josh Gedde); 10 great-grandchildren, Memphis and Temprance Sletten, Andrew, Ethan and Addison Sillerud, Jordan, Kiaja, Alexia, and Adam Gedde, and Owen Green; two sisters, Delores Plemel and Marcia Hanson of Minneapolis; two brothers, Roger Ledding of Fergus Falls and Harlan Ledding of Wisconsin; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation: 5:30-7:30pm, Wed., Oct. 21 at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to services.
Funeral Service: 2pm, Thurs., Oct. 22, 2015, at Glende-Nilson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
