Doris E. Norman

Doris Elaine Norman, 86, of Foxhome, MN, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019, at St. Francis Nursing Home, Breckenridge. Visitation will be held from 10-11am, Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Foxhome Lutheran Church, Foxhome, MN, followed by the funeral service at 11am. Rene Hasbargen will be officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Valley City, ND.
Doris was born in Gascoyne, ND, on February 1, 1933, to Walter and Amanda (Fuglestad) Boeder. She grew up and attended school at Hope, ND, and graduated high school in 1950. After completing her formal education, she held office jobs at various places such as GMAC Financial Group, Gaffaney’s, and Fargo Foundry (Mid America Steel).
On February 24, 1953, Doris was united in marriage to Wally Norman at Grace Lutheran Church, Foxhome, MN. They made their home in Fargo until 1970, when they moved to a farmstead by Foxhome and raised their children, Kirby and Kimberly, there. Doris was active in the Foxhome community, especially at Foxhome Lutheran Church. After 40 years of marriage, Wally passed away on July 17, 1993. After this, Doris continued to live on the farm but recently, due to her health, she lived at St. Francis Nursing Home, Breckenridge.
A remarkable cook, Doris was known for her home-made buns, donut balls, caramel rolls, and BBQ baby back ribs. One of the many different events she liked to be a part of was the Fergus Falls Shrine Circus, where she served at the cotton candy booth. She also filled her time embarking on new travels, often going on buses or cruises. Doris was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the various wildlife in her backyard. Throughout her life, she held many dear friendships and loved visiting with others. Doris had a giving heart and always put the needs of others before her own. Above all, Doris cherished her family; she loved watching her grandchildren in their sports endeavors and activities.
Doris will be missed by her son, Kirby (Bonnie) Norman of Fergus Falls, MN, and their children, Kyle Norman of Fargo, ND, and Cody (Pam) Norman and their children, Paige Elaine and Brayden Norman of International Falls, MN; daughter, Kimberly (Gary) Heimdahl of Milan, MN and their children, Andrea (Brent) Martinson and their children, Lucas and Ty Martinson of Eagan MN, and Sara Jo (Brandon) Fidler and their children, Kendall and Madelyn Fiddler of Monticello, MN; and brothers, Maynard Boeder of Lakewood, WA, and Donald Boeder of Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Helmer Wallace Norman; parents, Walter and Amanda Boeder; brother, Robert Boeder; niece, Jackie; sisters-in-law, Lu Boeder and Wilma Boeder; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Francis Nursing Home and CHI-Health at Home and Hospice, Breckenridge, for the wonderful care provided to Doris.
