Olive Larson


Olive Larson, 101, of Fergus Falls died Sun., Dec. 10, 2017 at the Broen Home.
Olive was born at rural Parshall, North Dakota, on February 4, 1916, to Carl and Jenny (Anderson) Carlson. She graduated from Parshall High School in 1933 and from the 2-year teaching course at the Minot State Teachers College in 1935. Olive taught school for three years in North Dakota.
Olive married Norman Larson of Wendell, Minnesota, in 1938. The couple farmed for many years in North Ottawa Township. Olive played the organ and piano for many years at the EUB Church in Norcross. In 1971 Olive moved to Elbow Lake; she was active in the Grace Evangelical Free Church, playing organ, teaching Sunday School and Release Time, and participating in the Women’s Missionary Society. Olive also was a past member of the North Ottawa Homemakers Club, Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at the Senior Citizen Nutrition Center.
Olive moved to Mill Street Residence in Fergus Falls in 1999, and to the Broen Home, Fergus Falls, in April 2014; she entered Hospice Care on Oct. 4, 2017
Olive was preceded in death by her husband Norman in February 1990; brother Carl E. Carlson; and sisters Agnes Redington and Irene Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters Virginia (Jim) Borowski of Fergus Falls, and Carol (Gary) Hanson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sons Bruce (Barb) Larson of Wendell, and Douglas (Kathy) Larson of Fargo, North Dakota; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation: Sat., Dec. 16 from 12-1pm at the Light and Life Auditorium of the Broen Home.
Memorial Service: Sat., Dec. 16, 2017 at 1pm at the Light and Life Auditorium of the Broen Home.
