Craig Lynn Vaughn, age 77, of Fergus Falls, MN, passed away unexpectedly, early on Monday, March 18, 2024, in Ixtapa, Mexico.
Craig was born in Breckenridge, MN, on July 27, 1946, to John (Jack) Vaughn and Hazel (Worner) Vaughn. He was one of seven children. Craig attended St. Mary’s Elementary School, graduated from Breckenridge High School, and attended Wahpeton State School of Science.
On August 3, 1968, he married Sharon (Shari) Hanson in Fergus Falls, MN. They were blessed with 3 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandsons. He and Shari raised their family on beautiful Swan Lake and their hunting paradise, Bean Lake Lodge. His motto was always “Family First”.
Craig owned and operated Fergus Drywall as a sole proprietor. In1998, he became the President and CEO of Fergus Drywall, Inc. until he was fully bought out of his shares by his two sons in 2002 and remained on as a consultant until 2005.
Craig loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, and farmer. In 2021, he was honored to be named the Conservation Farmer of the Year. Of all his accomplishments he was most proud of his family leaving them a legacy of generosity, a strong and disciplined work ethic, family traditions he loved and an incredible sense of humor to carry on.
He leaves behind many people to honor his memory, including Shari, his wife of 56 years, his children Jason (Stacey) Vaughn, Adam (Kari) Vaughn, Elizabeth (Andrew) Beck, his grandchildren Ashley (Nick) Weaver, Jack (Sam) Vaughn, Joseph Vaughn, Charles Vaughn, Vanessa Vaughn, William Vaughn, James Vaughn, Brooke Beck, Alexander (AJ) Beck and great grandsons Jack (JT) Weaver and Noah Weaver, his sister Penny (Mark) Gylland, sister-in-law Mary Lou Vaughn, brother-in-law Gary Brendel and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John (Jack) and Hazel Vaughn, father-in-law and mother-in-law Herman and Ida Hanson, siblings Jackie (Gary) Brendel, Gloria (Purdon) Wold, Doug (Mary Lou) Vaughn, Kathy (Darvel) Vickers, John Vaughn, brothers-in-law Darvel Vickers and Purdon Wold.
In his actions and words, he was a man who was larger than life. His presence is deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life will be held at his Bean Lake Family Lodge, 18215 248th Ave, Fergus Falls, MN 56537, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, story time starts at 1pm and food from 2pm to 6pm.
