Beverly (Bev) Jean Thompson, 92 of Fergus Falls, passed away peacefully February 1, 2024 at Broen Home in Fergus Falls, MN.
Beverly was born November 25, 1931 by Ten Mile Lake to Alvin and Mabel Staavas. She was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1949.
Bev met Jerry (Gerald) Thompson at a barn dance in Ashby, MN. They were married July 25, 1953 at Ten Mile Lake Church of rural Dalton, MN. After living on a farm in the Dalton area, they made their home in Fergus Falls.
Bev loved raising her five children. In 1967, she and Jerry bought into Schweigert Meats. She continued to stay home as she took on many roles in the family business. In her later years, she enjoyed her many positions at Sun Mart.
Bev served as a dedicated board member on the Eagles Auxiliary board. She was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church where she volunteered her time and energy.
Bev enjoyed knitting, reading books on the deck while enjoying the views of Wall Lake, gardening, collecting Carnival and Fenton glassware along with pink and green depression glass at auctions, pickling pigs’ feet and having family over for a good old fashioned fish fry with potato salad.
Bev was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Thompson, her son Michael, her daughter-in-law, Carri Thompson, as well as her brother, Orvin, and sisters, Alvina and Irene.
She is survived by her children, Debbie (Roger) Ness of Fergus Falls, Steve Thompson of Fergus Falls, Scot (Sara) Thompson of Sayner, WI and David Thompson of Hawley, MN; Her grandchildren, Trevor (Missy Bye) Ness, Monica (Christopher) Diestler, Jeremy Ness, Ben (Monica) Thompson, Rebekah (Marcus) Meder, Mark (Selja) Thompson, Emily (Brian) Mitz, Erik (Jenna Sima) Thompson, Drew (Kelsey) Thompson, Devon (Hailey Remme) Thompson; 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Broen Home for their care, kindness, and friendship they have given Bev over the past few years. She always looked forward to her morning visits and cappuccino’s.
Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church or Broen Home both of Fergus Falls, MN.
Celebration of Life: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment: Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Fergus Falls, MN
