Curtis “Curt” F. Bergerson

Curtis Franklin Bergerson, 87, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, passed away on November 24, 2024 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. He was born in Dalton, Minnesota on September 17, 1937, to parents Clinton and Florence, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1955. Curt met Sharon Mauer at the bowling alley in Fergus Falls and they were married on April 8, 1961. They lived and raised their family in Fergus Falls for over 56 years until Sharon’s death in 2017.

As a young man Curt participated in 4-H, Boy Scouts, tinkering on cars, working at the Skelly gas station in Dalton all while developing life-long friends. Curt joined the National Guard as a senior in high school and went on to proudly serve in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 while stationed in Washington, DC. The majority of his working days were with Sherwin Williams and the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Curt took great joy in participating and working at the annual Dalton Threshing Bee. Curt was a long-time member and officer of the Elks Club. In his retirement, Curt was honored to serve as President of the Walk of Flags in Fergus Falls, a role he held with pride for over 11 years.

Curt cherished his family and friends, and they cherished him. This included weekly coffee with the guys, annual camping trips to Itasca and summers at the lake. Throughout the years he enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing, hunting, doing puzzles, playing bean bags and watching the MN Twins. Of course, we can’t forget two of his favorites: going to the casino and playing 31. He’ll be remembered most for his helpfulness, patience, sense of humor and friendly personality. Most of all for being an amazing Dad and Grandpa!

Curt was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, his parents and brother, Arvid (Bud) Bergerson.

Curt is survived by his children, Pam (Mike) Medvec, Carmen Kilde, Candace (Mike) Mielke, Staci (Pete) LaPlante, Kevin (Becky) Bergerson; grandchildren, Matt (Dana) Kilde, Lance Kilde, Tyler Mielke, Gabrielle Mielke, Bridget Mielke, Cody (Enya) Abbott, Chelsey Abbott, Jake Bergerson, and Max Bergerson; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Lexi, Caleb, Lucas, Jackson, Marcus, Luke and Liam; sister, Lorna Kennedy; and lots of extended family.
